MEN ON STRIKE.

NAPSER WOOL STORES. DISSATISFIED WITH WAGES. (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, January 19. Owing to dissatisfaction with the failure of the Arbitration Court to announce a definite decision in connection with the award, 400 wool store workers in Napier ceased work at 1 o’clock this afternoon after a lunch hour meeting. The secretary refuses to comment, hut it is common knowledge that the men are dissatisfied with the existing wage position.

STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER WELLINGTON, January 19. “I understand that the trouble at Napier has been caused by the Arbitration Court’s delay in announcing the award which th'e men expected before Christmas,” said the Minister of Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong), tonight. “The delay has been unavoidable. I have been in touch with members of the Arbitration Court, and they have assured me that the matter will be gone into when the Cteurt sits at Auckland tf.i Monday. The award will be made retrospective, so the men will lose nothing.'’
