FLOWER SHOW

HINDS WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. GOOD QUALITY BLOOMS. A very successful spring flower show was held by the Hinds Women’s Institute, in the hall on Wednesday evening, when there was a large attendance of members. Mrs S. Rickard welcomed those, present. The Rev. \V. W. Avery, of Willowby, gave a particularly interesting address on the “Growing of Daffodils.”

On the motion of Mrs S. McKeage, Mr Avery was accorded a i:uriy Vote of thanks. Supper was served by all the members.

Mr Avery, who judged the flowers, commented very favourably upon the quality of the blooms. Awards were as follow: Collection flowers: Mrs S. McKeage 1 and 2. Bowl roses: Mrs C. Elms 1. Collection roses: Mrs D. Tarbotton 1 and 2. Best arranged howl Iceland poppies: Mrs D. Tarbotton 1, Airs S. McKeage 2. Three best roses: Mrs D. Tarbotton 1 and 2. Rose, Mrs D. Tarbotton 1, lan Lennie 2. Any other flower: Miss Q. Rickard 1, Mrs C. Elms 2. Men’s buttonhole : Mrs Lennie 1, Airs S. AlcKeago 2. Collection violas: Airs D. Tarbotton I,.Airs Lennie 2. Ladies’ spray: Mrs C. Elms 1 aiid 2. Floating bowl, Mrs T. Williams 1. Posy: Airs S. AlcKeage 1 and 2. Alixed flowers,: Airs Lennie 1, Airs C. Elms 2. Antirrhinum: Airs S. AlcKeage I,'Mrs D. Tarbotton 2. Bouquet: Airs C. Elms 1. In the Christmas novelties, judged by Airs A. S. Aloffat and Aliss White, Mrs C. Elms was first and Miss M. Frampton second and third.
