ST. JAMES THEATRE. The thrills that abound in "Tall Timbers,” Cinesound’s thrilling action screen .romance, which comes to the St. James Theatre to-night and on Monday night, are not confined to the big timber country, where most of the action takes place, for the exciting surf rescue at Palm Beach, where the picture opens, rivals even the big “timber drive” and the explosion .of the timber train bridge, for thrilling realism. And even the beach scenes were not shot without unrehearsed incidents adding to the ‘ that dogged the “Tall Timbers” unit right through production. For many reasons it is the biggest production attempted by Cinesound. In the first place, location work entailed travelling over greater distances than for any other picture. Moreover, a- bigger company and more equipment had to be transported. The work involved in shooting the thrilling and spectacular “timber drive,” the most astounding climax ever presented on the screen, when fifty acres of towering forest giants crash with thunder-like roars into the valley below—the explosion of the timber train bridge, and other exciting sequences—was more difficult and arduous than any previous effort.
