(From Our Own Correspondent!.) WAKANUf. GOOD TEMPLARS’ BANQUET. A spirit of festivity reigned on Tuesday evening, when members of the Good Templars’ Lodge, joined by mothers of the candidates, sat down at tables tastefully with roses and laden with a sumptuous repast on the occasion of the Mayoral Banquet. Bro. J. Sinclair (successful candidate) presided. Sister M. Rickard presented bouquets to the Mayoress and Sister E. Begg. Shoulder sprays were presented to the mothers by Sister E. Turner. Sister Bellaney presented Sister E. Begg with a bouquet as a token of good wishes on the occasion of her birthday. , After the loyal toast had been honoured, Sister E. Begg proposed the toast of the “Mayor and Mayoress” Other toasts were:—Grand Lodge, Bro. O. Wilson—Sister E. Begg; Our Lodge Bro. A. Frampton— Bro. J. West; Mothers, Bro. C. Wilson —Mrs F. Frampton; Sister, Bro. H. Begg— Sister A. Hendry; Brothers, Sister E. Turner—Bro. E. West; New Members, Bro, F. Bonnington—Mayor; Defeated Candidates, Mayor—Bro. C. Wilson; Candidates’ chairwomen, Bro. A. Frampton—Sister E. Eden. The toasts were interspersed with the following items, Banjo solo, Bro. F. Rickard; recitation, Bro. H. Begg; songs, Bros. O. Wilson and A. Frampton. Mrs J. Sinclair, Sisters M. Rickard and M. Wilson were accompanists. A hearty vote of thanks, to all who had, assisted to make the evening so enjoyable, preceded the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” / RAKAIA. CHURCH ANNIVERSARY, There was a large gathering at the Rakaia Methodist Church to celebrate the anniversary. Items were given by Miss N. Bishop and Mr K. Fowke, and a quartet by R. and S. Cornelius, E. Behrns and Keith Gibson. The Sunday School anniversary was also celebrated on Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev. Mcßain, who also presented the prizes. Items were contributed by the Baring Square junior choir. During the afternoon service Master E. Behrns made a presentation to the superintendent (Mr R,. L. Hop wood). Lodge Meeting. The acting-Noble Grand, Bro. T. Gaylor, presided oyer a good attendance at a meeting of the Loyal Rakaia Lodge, M.U.LOvO.F. Sick pay amounting to £2 was passed for payment. The following officers were elected: — N.G., Bro. A. Pluck; V.G., Bro. K. Fryer; E.S., Bro. G. Smith. A report on the United Friendly Society Council’s meeting was given by Bro. H. Donaldson. It was decided to visit Tinwald and take part in a dual installation.
