THE ASHBURTON RACES. SUMMER MEETING TO-MORROW. The Ashburton Comity Racing Club’s summer meeting to be held to-morrow promises to provide a good day’s sporting. The programme is an attractive one and it has drawn large fields that include many notable performers. The weather has been suitable for the track in the last week and the ground is in good order. The first race is timed to start at 12.20 o’clock, and the last at 4.55 o’clock. The programme includes two trotting events, which have drawn very large acceptances. The fancy of patrons in the several events is likely to be concentrated on the following horses: Apprentices Handicap—Happy Night, Almira, Dring Up. Lagmhor Plate—Raeburn, Screamer, Haeropo. Melrose Trot—Francisco, Maltravers, Cream Harvester. Tinwald Handicap—Queen of Song, The Surgeon, Queen Dorothy. Winchmore Hack Handicap—Double Gift, Paper Note. High-weight Hack Handicap—Owlsgleam, Dropped Catch, Sir Hugh. Wakanui Handicap—Pelmet, Grey Honour, Rebel Chief. Mayfield Trot—Old Faithful, Llewellyn’s Pet, Labourman.
