AMALGAMATION PLAN.
EVIDENCE TO BE HEARD. WELLINGTON, November 25. The taking of evidence on the Local Government (Amalgamation Schemes) Bill will lie commenced on Tuesday morning by the special committee appointed by the House of Representatives to report on the legislation. The Hon. W. E. Barnard (Speaker of the House) will be chairman. It is stated that with the large number of requests made by local authorities for representatives to give evidence the committee will be sitting fairly regularly from Tuesday onwards.
