THE STOCK SALES. ADDINGTON. (Special to the “ Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, ,'November 24. Small entries of fat stock at to-day’s Addington market met with an improved sale, particularly fat sheep and to‘a lesser extent fat cattle. Fat ’Lambs—The freezing works Commenced operating this week and export buyers were in the market. Prices, however, were in advance of their rates, making from 9£d to 9|d. Store Sheep—There was a much freer sale with a slight advantage in prices for ewes and lambs. Two-tooths fetched up to £1 ss, wethers 17s to 19s. Fat Sheep—A small penning of 3750 head as against 6600 last week met with a complete recovery in wether values of 2s a head and of ewes about 2s 6d. Wethers: Best to £l 14s lOd, good £1 8s to £1 12s, ordinary £1 3s to £1 6s. Ewes: Best to £1 10s, good £1 4s to £1 7s, average 18s to £1 la 9d, light, down, to 16s. , i Fat Cattle—About 500 were penned and for a small showing of good cattle last week’s drop of 20s a head was recovered. Medium sorts showed a little improvement.but old cows were a shade weaker. Best young beef in a few instances were to 40s per 1001 b, good 36s to 38s, and rough down to 265. Best steers brought up to £l7 17s 6d, others • £l4 10s to £l6 10s, inferior, down tp £lO. Vealers sold at slightly lower rates and store cattle eased on last week’s improved market. Fat Pigs—There was a heavy entry and with the export price easing slightly there was a weaker sale for porkers, which were down by 2s to 3s a head. Baconers were slightly easier. Porkers realised) £1 12s 6d to £2 15s 6d s,aveiage price per lb, 6fd to 7£d); baconers £3 9s 6d to £4 4s 6d (average price per lb, 6£d to 7d). • Store Cattle—Ten well-grown Shorthorn steers sold at £8 7s, 11 two-year Black Poll-Aberdeen cross-Hereford steers at £6, 7 two-year Shorthorn Steers at £7 6s, mixed coloured three and four-year steers at £8 fresh hut low-conditioned cows at £3 11s, 10 Shorthorn cross yearling to two-year steers at £4, and some 18-months heifers at £3 4s. Store Pigs—Weaners, small, 16s to 19s; best, 20s to 2os. Slips, 25s to 275. Sniall stores, 26s to 295. Large stores, 30s to 325. Five ; purebred Berkshire sows realised £5 l2s *6d a head:.
