PREPARED TO FIGHT.
ANTI-FASCISTS IN BRAZIL. NEW REGIME OPPOSED. BUENOS AIRES, November 15. A Fascist State will not be set up in Brazil without heavy fighting. Already armed civilians are entrenched near Pernambuco City, prepared to resist the new regime, says reports reaching the Argentine border. They are led by the Governor of Pernambuco State, Senor Carlos Lima Cavalcanti, who resigned a few days ago when President Vargas proclaimed Brazil a corporate State. Supported by a section of the Army, Senor Armando S. Oliviera is also planning a counter-coup against President Vargas.
Ironically, a third movement against the new regime is headed by Senor Plinto Salgado, who is leader of the Integralist Party, whose members are Brazil’s Fascist “Green Shirts.”
