GRAIN AND PRODUCE. THE CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, This Dav. There is exceptionally little activity at present in the grain and produce markets, which are between seasons for many lines. The inquiry for potatoes keeps up, but Canterbury supplies are cleaned out, and any that farmers still have are saleable at up to £l3 a ton Little interest is being taken in next year’s crop, as it appears that the supply will be plentiful given normal weather. Small seeds are quiet but firm. Oats and chaff are in good demand, but hard to get. Quotations. The following are the prices quoted to farmers, on trucks, at country sidings, unless otherwise indicated: Wheat—Milling, f.0.b., Tuscan 5s od, Hunters 5s 7d, Pearl 5s 9d. Fowl wheat, prompt, to 6s f.o.b. Oats—A Cartons to 3s 2d, B Cartons 3s ■ Algerians, to 2s 10d ■ Duns, 2s 9d to 3s 3d. Ryegrass—Perennial, 2s 6d to 3s ; Italian, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Cocksfoot—Plains, 7d to 8d; Akaroa, 5d to 9d per lb. Cowgrass—6d to 7d per lb. White Clover—Bd to lOd. Chaff—To £4 a ton. j Barley—Feed, 4s a bushel. Partridge Peas—4s 9d to 5s a bushel. Contrary to the usual experience at this season of the year, potato prices remain at high levels. Pukekohe is at present the chief source of supply, and is finding it difficult to meet the extraordinary demand which comes from all quarters. This difficulty has been emphasised by a temporary shortage of Maori diggers. The quotation for Pukekohes is 8s to 8s Gd a sugarbag. The market is still supplied with Canadian onions, which sell freely at 20s per 1001 b. Horse feed is dull of sale and there is no change in the prices of either oats or chaff. Australian wheat is selling freely at 7s 3d a bushel, and another shipment is due about December 6. Stocks of South

African maize are being depleted, bui so far dealers have not had to call upor the Bay of Plenty for supplies, excepi for direct railing to other parts of the province and to Taranaki. Clipped barley still sells at 6s Id to 6s 3d a bushel, but feeders expect to buy better early next month when the first of the Australian new season’s crop becomes available. This is being offered at 5s 3d to 5s 6d a bushel for clipped, and from 4s lid to 5s 2d unclipped, quotations being ex wharf. More, pollard is available from local mills, but the position in Australia is firmer. Bran is also coming to hand more freely, but there is still difficulty •in filling all orders.' WHEAT PRICES IN BRITAIN. \ LONDON, November 2?. Wheat cargoes have risen and parcels are dbarer. Futures are quoted:— London—November 43s ltd a quarter, January 42s o|d. Liverpool—December 7s lltd per cental, March 7s 8 5-Bd, May 7s Bd.
