IMPROVEMENTS ON CIJURSE. TOTALISATOR EXTENSIONS. Extensions to the totalisaior house at the racecourse are being carried out by the Ashburton Trotting Club to give many more selling windows, experience of past meetings having shown that even, with the new building there was not sufficient accommodation for patrons of the tote. The house is being extended for 26 feet. These alterations will not interfere in an way with the smooth running of the building during the race meeting next Saturday. The preparations are being made in advance of the Boxing Day trotting meeting. Thirty more loose boxes are being put up by the Club, and this will be a facility that will be welcomed by owners and trainers at the trotting meetings. The car parking area has been enlarged considerably and the Club has made thorough arrangements for the speedy handling of traffic after the meeting on Boxing Day, when, it is anticipated there will be exceptionally heavy road traffic to the course.

Acfvice lias been received by the Club that the Railway Department has decided to run three special trains to Ashburton on Boxing Day morning to cater for patrons of the meeting.
