BOY KILLED BY BOLTING PONY. ’ FOOT CAUGHT IN STIRRUP. (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, This Day. Bertie James Morrison, aged 13, of Gk&ramio, sustained fatal injuries when he was dragged by a. pony on his grandmother’s farm yesterday afternoon. Unable to reach the stirrup irons, Morrisan was riding with his feet in the leathers, when one stirrup caught in a half-opened gate, throwing him off the pony, with one foot entangled in the leather top. The pony bolted with the boy hanging head down. Tlie lad suffered severe injuries to his head, succumbing soon after the doctor’s arrival from Havelock. LAD’S FATAL INJURY. STRUCK BY CRICKET BALL. NEW PLYMOUTH, November 22. Struck on the head by a. cricket ball on Saturday, Alfred Jordan, aged 11, a son of Mr A. G. Jordan, New Plymouth, suffered injuries that resulted in liis death in hospital yesterday. The accident occurred in a paddock during an impromptu game, in which several children took part. The boy who was batting missed the ball. It was gathered in by another boy behind the wickets. ’The latter intended to return it to the bowler at the other end, As he threw it, however, it slipped from his hand and struck Jordan behind the ear. BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR. WELLINGTON, This Day. The body of Mr William Norman Paine, aged 27, believed to have resided in Bay Road, Petone, was recovered. from the Wellington Harbour yesterday afternoon. It was fully dressed and apparently had been in the water some time.
