CHILD INJURED.
TRUCK OWNER TO PAY £2OOO. DUNEDIN, November 22. In an action instituted before Mr Justice Kennedy on October 28 on behalf of Kenneth Lloyd, an infant, against It. Cahill and iSon, carriers, the jury awarded plaintiff £2OOO general damages, and £2l 17s special damages. The case arose from an accident in Gardner Street, Mornington, in November of last year, in winch the child Lloyd was struck by a truck owned by the defendant firm, and gravely injured. When the decision of the jury was made, Mr J. M. Preston intimated that he wished time to consider whether further action should be taken, on the ground that the verdict was against the weight ot evidence, and his Honor postponed entering judgment. The case came before the Court again this morning, when Mr Paterson said that he had no application to make. Mr A. N. Haggitt, for the plaintiff asked for judgment for the amount awarded by the jury. His Honor gave judgment for £2021 17s with costs.
