In the House of Commons, the Prime Minister (Mr Neville Chamberlain), replying to Mr Ellis Smitlf (Labour, Stoke), said that inquiries showed that broadcasting the proceedings of the House of Commons- was not approved by any considerable section of the House. . f ‘ 1 Mr Ellis: Is the Premier aware‘that in a country where they have a-real people’s Government—Cries of “Where is that ?’ ’—amely, New Zealand (laughter) they have .already adopted Parliamentary broadcasts? He asked for reconsideration, as the people were at present dependent on newspapers controlled by two Lords, for news concerning the House of Commons.
