ATHLETICS.
EVENING MEETING ON WEDNESDAY. The Ashburton Amateur Athletic Association is making every effort to provide local athletes and the sporting public with the best in athletics. The evening meeting on the Domain Oval next Wednesday promises to be something well worth patronising. Canterbury runners are anxious not only to get hard competition racing in preparation for championship meetings, but also to assist the code in Ashburton. With this double object in view, runners from Christchurch, Temuka, Geraldine and Timaru will compete with Ashburton athletes in a series of track and field events. The Association offers also an interesting programme for the younger athletes, boys and girls, from the primary and post-primary schools, as well as from the County in general.
