NOVEMBER 20. 1840—Captain Hobson became Governor of New Zealand. 1863—Battle of Rangiriri and defeat of Natives. ?. Alan Cobham started on first flight to India. 1925 Death of Queen Alexandra. 1933—West Coast air crash ; two killed. 1935 Admiral of the Fleet Earl Jellicoe, of Seapa, who commanded the British Grand Fleet at Jutland, died. 1936 Viscount Galway paid first official visit. as Governor-General to Ashburton.
