NO LOAN TO ITALY.
TOO RISKY FOR SOBER BANKERS. (United Press Association —Copyright., LONDON, November 18. City financiers refused Signor Mussolini a loan for which Count V olpi (president of the Fascist Industrial Confederation, and one of Italy’s ablest financiers) came specially to London. The “Daily Herald” says that Count Volpi sought £20,000,000 to £30,000,000 for from two to three years at a high interest, but found no encouragement. “Even in circles politically sympathetic,” says the “'Daily Herald,” “it is recognised that lending money to Italy, whatever the interest, is too risky a game for sober bankers.”
