41,500 IN ONE CONTEST
THEME CHOSEN BY EMPEROR
TOKIO, January 26
AVritten on the theme, “A Farmhouse in the Snow,” which was chosen by the Emperor, 41,496 poems were submitted for the Imperial New Yeai poetry contest. The entries were judged in the Emperor’s Palace. They came from all over Japan, and also from abroad, the writers including soldiers in Mancliukuo. . Seven poems were accepted, by tne judges. Two women were among the authors honoured.
