RADIO BEACONS.

The Minister of Defence (Sir Archdale Parkhill) is expected to approve a plan for providing six radio beacons as soon as he receives a report on the subject. The Minister states that the cost will be about £40,000. The beacons will b&»installed, at Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Holbrook, Melbourne, and Hobart. The type under consideration is the Lorenz ultra-high frequency short-wave, operating over a radius of 100 miles.
The aviation authorities consider that the plan to provide a system of air navigation will equal anything in the world.
