LODGE MEETING.
THE MANCHESTER UNITY.
The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Ashburton Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held last evening, there being a good attendance. P.G. Bro. C. M. Innes presided in the absence of the N.G. (Bro. R. McGregor). A motion, of condolence with Bro. H. McElrea, in the death of his son, was carried in the manner customary to the Order. Notification was received from the District Secretary that a Past Grands lodge will he held at the Tinwald lodge room on Saturday, March- 6, for the purpose of conferring the purple degree.
Sick pay amounting to £l9 was passed in favour of 17 members.
One candidate was proposed and eight elected. Nominations for district officers were closed. Bro. R. H. Biggar withdrew his nomination for the office of D.D.G.M. The nominations are: D.G.M., Bro. W. B. Frampton; D.D.G.M., Bro. R. 11. Loy; District Treasurer, Bro. B. 11. Biggar; management committee, Bro. Del low, T. F. Smith and W. K. Waters; auditor, Bro. H. D. Gunn; relieving officer, Bro. J. L. Soal; delegates to 8.M.C., Bros. F. Pritchard and C. M. Innes The syllabus for the year submitted by the Social committee was approved, the fixtures being such as should create and maintain the interest of members. The statement of accounts for the past year was presented, showing a sound financial position. An indication of the benefits provided by the lodge is given by the following figures of payment during the period: Sick pay, £515; Doctors, £250; hospital, £235; dispensary, £l3O.
