The Forbury Park Trotting Club’s summer meeting opened to-day in ideal weather. The track was in excellent condition and the going was good. The totalisator handled £18,352 for the day, compared with £15,756 10s on the corresponding day last year. Results:

There was a large attendance, including the Governor-General, Lord Galway. The track was fast, and the totalisator handled £10,997, against £8047 last year, an increase of £2950. . v . Airing weighed m two pounds iignt after finishing third in the Victoi’y Hack Handicap, and was disqualified for the race, Reipar being placed third. The committee announced it was satisfied that there had been no carelessness with the gear, but ascertained that the saddle tree had broken and a leather and an iron came adrift. There was an inquiry held into the interference with Rustem after going two furlongs in the Petre Hack Handicap, but it was found to he accidental, there beiing no blame attachable to anyone. TROTTING CHAMPIONSHIPS.

FIRST HEAT DECLARED NO RACE. ADELAIDE, January 28. After Lawn Derby had beaten Speedy Boy by a head in a division of the trotting championship at Unley, it was discovered that the horses had raced a lap short, and the race was ordered to be run again. All bets were declared off. In the second attempt Lawn Derby lost 50 yards at the start and finished fourth, Kernel Lu defeating Evicus by a length, with Speedy Boy third. Marble Bath won the Kerr Stakes of one mile and five furlongs, and also beat Prince Dalla and Lady Childewood in a championship heat. Dan’s Son easily headed off Bedouin Lady in the other division. Marble Bath and Lawn Derby may go near to winning the final honours.
