SINKING OF A SCOW.
A WATERSIDE INCIDENT. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, November 11. While loading coal from the Union Company’s steamer Kaiwarra at the Western Wharf yesterday afternoon the scow Kiatia tilted and sank. Her mast, however, was secured to the scow Esme alongside, this preventing the Kiatia from going to the bottom. The men aboard the scow jumped on to the Esme and most of the coal fell into the harbour. The scow was righted with the assistance of the Esme’s winch and also with the help of the Kaiwarra. She was hauled up for inspection this moi ning.
