STRIKE THREATENED.
THE WELSH COALFIELDS. (United Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, Sept. 5. In an endeavour to avert the threatened stoppage in the South Wales coalfield, the Mines Secretary (Mr H. Crookshank) has now obtained an agreement Avith the colliery company to meet federation officials under a neutral chairman nominated by himself, early next week to hear the ft-cer-ation’s case and to discuss .he hold*! g of a secret independent ballot. The, owners say that made this offer, which has been accepted by the federation solely m order to avoid what .they describe as “the national calamity of a stoppage m the South Wales coalfields.”-—British Official Wireless.
