M. BLUM REMAINS FIRM.
AGREEMENT MUST BE HONOURED. AGAINST INTERVENTION. PARIS, Sept. G. The Premier (M. Blum) who is firmly resisting the Leftists’ clamour for intervention in Spain, told a mass meeting of thousands that he was aware that maintenance of the Spanish Republic guaranteed France security for her southern frontiers and her North African communications, but the non-intervention agreement which bore, among others, Russia’s signature must not be repudiated. He would never tolerate inciting a conflict nor admit that war was inevitable, despite Left Wing attacks on his policy.
