POLICE TRANSFER.
INSPECTOR MARTIN FOR CHRISTCHURCH. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, September 5. Commissioner Cummings announced to-day that Inspector G. B. Edwards (formerly of Rakaia), is being transferred to Gisborne to replace Inspector H. Martin (formerly of Ashburton), who has been transferred to Christchurch to fill the vacancy caused by the promotion and transfer of Inspector S. Rawle to Dunedin.
Sub-Inspector J. Sweeney, who has been in charge of the detective branch at Auckland, and who was recently promoted to the rank of inspector, will replace Inspector Edwards at Wellington.
