ROAD SAFETY.
PERSONNEL OF THE COUNCIL. (Ter Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 3. The Minister of Transport announced to-night that, following the recent road safety conference held in "Wellington, he had selected the personnel of the proposed road safety council as follows: Mr W. A. O’Callaghan, North Island Motor Union. Mr J. S. Hawkes, South Island Motor Union. Mr C. J. Talbot, counties. Mr M. F. Luckie, municipalities. Mr J. F. Cousins, New Zealand Motor Traders’ Federation. Mr F. C. Spratt, New Zealand Alliance. Mr G. B. Ashbridge, New Zealand Educational Institute.
Dr. J. W. Mcllraith, Education Department. Mr J. Wood, Main Highways Board. Mr J. H. Fcrram, State Fire and Accident Office. The Commission of Transport.
Mr Semple said the personnel had been drawn from many walks of life and lie anticipated that tlio council would prove a valuable organisation in advising the Government on tne problems of road safety. “No time will be lost in getting the council to work. There is a. lot to be done, and I propose calling the first meeting of the Board in the middle of the month. As Minister of Transport I will preside at most of these meetings whenever possible.”
