“RADIO PRIEST.”
FATHER COUGHLIN’S TALKS. ATTACKS ON PUBLIC MEN' IMPROPER, (United Press Association —Copyright.! ROME, Sept. 3. The “Osservatore Romano,” the official organ of the Vatican, in censuring the American “radio priest,” Father Coughlin, whoso broadcast addresses on political questions have attracted much attention, denies that the Vatican informed the Bishop of Detroit that it approved Father Coughlin’s activities. The newspaper adds: “The Holy Bee wishes to respect all liberties, but also all proprieties. The orator sins against the elementary proprieties when he attacks persons who represent social authorities with evident danger of shaking in the multitudes the respect they owe to the authorities themselves. The impropriety is all the greater when the speaker is a priest.”
