THE NEW STAMPS.
GREAT RUSH BY PURCHASERS. (United Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, September 1. Crowds stormed the post offices for the new King Edward stamps, which were issued as midnight chimed. The first purchasers, at the Fleet Street post office, where a queue started at 10 p.m. were three French girls, who immediately attached the stamps to postcards which they posted to themselves. Many, including collectors, purchased whole sheets. Buying continued until the early hours of the morning. The new stamps will be available until Saturday, after which the; sale of King George stamps will continue until the stock is exhausted.
