A Casablanca message states that events confirm the reports of disaffection among the natives in Spanish Morocco, where rebellion is believed to be imminent against General Franco, whose repressive measures have caused the chiefs to refuse 25,000 recruits demanded within a week. A deputation of chiefs waited on the Sultan to protest against tho Spanish severities and to demand the release of the imprisoned chiefs Abdelalck and Torres. Fifteen hundred wives of soldiers sent to Spain arrived at Tetuan. They demand news of their men folk and sustenance.
Jews are fined in default of imprisonment to meet General Franco’s administrative expenses.
