ATTEMPT ON SAFE.
DOOR RESISTS EXPLOSION. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Augupst 21. An attempt to blow' open the safe of the Royal Oak Post Office early this morning failed. A charge had been placed in the keyhole, hut the safe' door resisted the explosion. The intruder, evidently an amateur, gained entrance by breaking a glass panel in the door. He left a jemmy behind. The safe contained pension payments which were to he distributed to-day. When the safe was drilled open everything was found intact.
