FARMERS CONFER.
THE CONCLUDING BUSINESS. The Mid-Canterbury Farmers’ Union executive concluded its business after the “Guardian” went to. press yesterday. Mr G. H. B. Lill said that when the meetings went into committee, it did not mean that the reports in the newspapers were the only things to be suppressed. It meant that the members were not to go across the road and tell what happe ted in committee. The newspapers reported the meetings fairly, but it was not fair for members to go outside and mention what had taken place. Several other speakers supported. Mr Lill’s conteuti >n. On the question of the importation embargo on certain sizes of bags, several. members expressed a protest and it was decided that the Merchants’ Association should bo asked to. import only 48 inch cmnsacks as being most suitable for local conditions.
