MADRID CERTAIN TO FALL.
EXPERIENCED OBSERVER’S VIEW. INSURGENTS WELL-EQUIPPED. (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) GIBRALTAR, August 18. An experienced observer just returned from Madrid declares: “The Government militia are some of the brave'st men I have seen, but their . position is difficult as hardly any are properly armed. The insurgents, with a good supply of ammunition and guns, and well-trained men, are certain to take' Madrid.” “Typhoid has broken out in San Sebastian where water, drawn from wells, is rationed.” 1
REBEL FORCE DEFEATED. ANOTHER GOVERNMENT SUCCESS. (Received This Day, 10.J0 a.m.) LISBON, August 18. The Government troops defeated the rebel forces that were advancing from Badajos. They also captured Belehite, South of Saragossa, inflicting heavy losses on thd rebels.
