The Hon. P. Fraser (Minister of Health and Education) passed through Ashburton by the express train this morning: on his way to Dunedin, where he will give an wddress at the opening of the Women’s Institute Conference to—morrow morning. He was accompanied by his pri-mte secretary (Mr W. Deavoll),
Police—Superintendent D. C. Fraser, of 'Cihrivstchurch, is transferred to be Superintendent at Wellington (says a Christchurch Press ASSOciation telegram).
\ Mr W. Bryant left for Dunedin by the express train; this morning, to represent the Ashbu‘rton Hospital Board at a meeting of the Waipiata Sanatoa'ium Committee.
The appointment of Miss K. W. Hvewson as assistant mistress at the Ashburt‘o‘n East School {has been con—firmed by the Canterbury Eduéation Board and she will take up duty on September 7.
The resignation of Miss A. I. Litten, who has been infant mistress at the East Ashburton School for several years, was accepted by the School Com—mittee last evening and it was agreed to send to her a. letter of appreciatibn of her services,
After having represented the School Committees on the Ashburton Technical High School Board of Managers for 18 years, Mr W. G. Hillier (Who is chairman, of the Board) has notified the committees that he will not be avail—able as their representative. A motion of appreciation of his services was passed by the Ashburton East [School Committee last evening.
