DANCE 'AT LISMORE.

WOMEN’S DIVISION BIRTHDAY.

i The Lisnlore Schoolroom was Iprettily Idecorated on Friday evening, when the Women’s Division of the Fari'mers’ Union celebrated its fifth birthday party by holding a_ fancy dress ball. Despite the inclement weather there was a large attendance. The first part of the evening was devoted to the children under the direction of Mr C. Corbett, with Miss Mackimmie at the piano. After judging was completed the children adjourned to the supper room, which had also been iprettfly decorated by members, where they were attended to by Mesdames Glasscy, Feron, Tilley and Miss Bell.

The National Anthem was sung and the adults tool; the floor,‘ to music supplied by Dabourn’s orchestrai, with extras by Mr C. Corbett. Mr A. Chalmers was M.C., assisted by Mr L. Lilley. The supper was in the capital hands of Mesdames Sparrow, Fleming, Young, Ashton, Addis and Shilling. Mrs J. Fleming (president) welcomed the guests and thanked all who had helped to make the evening such a. suct cess, especially} those who had travelled long distances to be present, and the mothers who had brought their children in fancy dress. Greetings were received from Rua—pmm, \Vesterfield, Aslnb‘urton, Mayfield, Maronan, and: from. the Women’s Institute Federation. .

The speakers were Mr R. Oakley, topresenting the Farmers' Union Execw tive, Mrs Ashton (who also lit the candies), Mrs G. Moore, of Lynnf'ord, who blew out the candles, representing the youngest branch of the Union, and Mrs R. Austin, of the Mayfield Women‘s Institute, who cut, the cake.

Novelty dances were won as follow: Lucky spot, Mrs A. Fleming and Mr McCormick; first couple on floor, Mr McCormick and Miss Sandford.

Mrs R. Oakley presented the prizes won in the competitions during the year to the following winners: Aggregate, Mrs Young; runner—up, Miss Bell. Best Bloom, Mrs Addis. Most entries, Mrs Addis ; runner-up, Mrs Ashton. The judges of the fancy costumes, Mosdames Oakley and Austin, awarded prizes as follow:
