Store Sheer)—Only 1700 were penned, about half being ewes. Six and eight-tooths sold to 265, sound-mouthed to 22s 3d, and f.m. to 19s 3d. A pen of ewe lambs made 25s 6d and forward wethers 23s 3d. For the double market at Burnsido, held to-day because of show week, there were large entries in the sheep and lamb section, but cattle were in smaller supply, a total of 316 being submitted. The quality of the cattle yarded was disappointing, and the number of prime heavy bullocks offered showed a decrease on the figures for previous years. The top price for the sale was £lB 2s 6d. On account of the insuffi-

cient supply, all classes of beef sold fairly well, the values obtained showing an appreciation of fully 30s a head on previous markets. Extra prime show bullocks made up to £lB 2s 6d, prime heavy realised from £l2 to £l4 12s 6d, medium from £9 10s to £ll 2s 6d, and lighter and unfinished sorts down to £B. An entry of 1840 lambs was forward, included in which were a few consignments of outstanding quality. The yarding generally was composed ol medium quality, lambs and several pens of lighter and unfinished sorts. Extra prime heavy show lambs brought up to 335, prime heavy from 24s to 28s, medium from 22s to 23s 9d, and lighter and unfinished sorts down to 19s. The entry of fat sheep totalled 2469, and included for the most part ewes, several consignments of which were of exceptionally good quality. A few consignments of very choice wethers were also forward. The market opened brightly, all grades showing an appreciation of 2s a head. Top price obtained was for an especially good pen of show wethers which brought 425. _ Export operators were present for suitable ewes, and this class sold at greatly improved rates and continued firm until the conclusion of the sale. Heavy grades in both ewes and wethers met with an improvement at the outset of 2s a head, but the rise was not maintained, and vendors in the final races were unfavourably placed. The medium yarding of store cattle, including odd pens of steers, attracted keen competition. Vealers were in short supply, but the quality was excellent, with the result that competition was very brisk. Values were higher. A line of black polled steers sold up to £6 lis. The yarding of 210 fat pigs was disposed of at satisfactory prices, up to £4 16s being obtained for heavy baconers. Porkers sold from £2 5s .to £2 15s, according to size and quality. The entry of 87 store pigs was quoted at late rates. There was a medium entry of 26 dairy cows, which did not make an attractive display, and only good young cows close ,-to profit were in demand.
