Gordon Goodwin Grant Stephens, aged 57 years, a public accountant and auditor, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court this morning with failure to account for £2O received on account of a client, thereby committing theft. Detective Farquharsou said that the accused went to the police station last evening and voluntarily gave himself up. Other charges wel'e pending. It was probable that the amount involved would be about £7OO. The accused was remanded till June 25. Bail was fixed at £2OO and one surety of £2OO.
