THE WEATHER.
DULL WITH MISTY RAIN. Following dull: weather yesterday misty rain fell at times in Ashburton to-d‘ay. The sky remained overcast, while the wind was from the southwest. The maximum temperature yesterday was 49.8 degrees, compared with 56.6 degrees on Saturday. The inside minimum last night was 39.6 degrees, compared. with 41.5 degres on Saturday night. There were no frosts during the week-end. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 29.78 inches, compared with 29.65 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather :-- . General inference: A complex series of depressions covers the Dominion, while an intense anti-cyclone is ap—proaching across the Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of tin. South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows :-——- Light to moderate and Variable winds, with northerlies prevailing, but a change to strong southerlies probable within about 24 hours. Wea—ther cloudy to overcast, and in places misty or foggy. Rain probable, with some heavy falls, and on high levels snow. ’l‘emperatures becoming colder. Seas slight to. moderate, but later increasmg.
