(From Our Own Correspondents.) WAKANUI THE EASTER SERVICES. A service was conducted by the Rev. S. J. Webb in the Wakanui Presbyterian Church on Good Friday evening. Records of “The Ortaorio,” “The Crucifixion,” and, other Easter pieces were played. A collection was taken in aid of the Girls’ Auxiliary Missionary Funds. On Sunday an Easter Day service -was conducted by the Rev. S. J. Webb in the morning. In the afternoon an Anglican service was taken by the Yen. Archdeacon A. J. Petrie. Services were also held in the Methodist Church. Many Picnic Parties. The good weather experienced throughout the Easter holidays attracted many people to the Wakanui beach and the mouth of the Ashburton River, where picnic parties were held. A calm sea made conditions ideal for fishing. BARR HILL. SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC. The annual picnic and prize-giving ceremony of the Barr Hill Anglican Sunday School was held, in the school grounds in fine weather. Many parents and friends were present, and the children spent a happy time with games and races. Each child received a toy in addition to the usual prize book. After afternoon tea the presentation of prizes took place. The Rev. H. J. Knights (vicar of Rakaia) referred to the work of Miss E. Richards, who had taught in. the Sunday school last year, and of Nancy Gibson. On behalf of the pupils he presented Miss Richards with a bouquet.
