THE KING’S NEW CAR.

SOME SPECIAL FEATURES. THE QUEEN VISITS ADELPHI. LONDON, March 28. Two stories, one relating to King Edward, the other to Queen Mary, showed once more to-day how they share the same interests as the people. The King’s interest is a new motorcar, which he has described as a beauty, and which, according to a friend, is an unfailing source of delight. The car, which is of British manufacture, cost £IOOO, and is fitted with a number of special gadgets, including a table, and a special light, so that the King may he able to read State papers when driving between Fort Belvedere, his country home, and Buckingham Palace. There is also a new device for manipulating the windscreen, suggested by the King himself.

Queen Mary unexpectedly drove to the Adelplii, the historic landmark beloved by Londoners and now doomed to demolition. Accompanied by estate agents, Queen Mary inspected Garrick’s house. Her Majesty then said she would like to see the cellar,'! under the Arches, which are full of Dickensian and other romantic associations.

Members of the party hastened to seek torches, but Queen Mary did not wait. She spent 35 minutes touring the gloomy Arches and drove away unnoticed by passers-by.
