Before she reached the altar steps she slipped oft a long cloak and stood unclothed. The congregation of 1000 gasped in amazement as the woman, who was young and dark-haired,, of medium height, sank slowly to her knees with her arms outstretched. The woman remained with her back to the congregation for at least a minute, when officials hastened forward, placed her cloak round her shoulders, gently raised her, and led her to the vestry. She obviously did not realise the gravity of her action and was accordingly removed to a police station, where she was seen by a doctor.
