FINE, COOL CONDITIONS. Although conditions in Ashburton to-day were fine, the temperature was inclined to be cool. A sharp northeasterly breeze was blowing, and the sky was overcast early, although the sun shone through at times later. One point of rain was recorded at the Domain weather station yesterday. The maximum temperature was 52.2 degrees and the minimum last night 46.1 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 30.31 inches, a rise from 30.02 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Pi ess Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: Ay. intense anticyclone covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, while an extensive lowpressure area is located to the north. The forecast for the east coast of thb South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate variable winds, mainly easterly. Weather fair and cool, but misty or foggy at times on the coast. Seas moderate.
