RIFLE SHOOTING.
NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. TWO BELT MATCHES FIRED. TRENTHAM, This Day. Perfect shooting conditicais were experienced at Trentham this morning for the second day of the National Rifle Association. A start was made with the championship Belt matches, the Canterbury and Otago matches, each consisting of 10 rounds at 300 yards, being fired. In the Canterbury Match nine marksmen finished with 49, but P. Goldfinch (Karori) had the best bull finish and took the first prize of £5. * The Dawson Shield, which is awarded to the team of four men obtaining the highest score in the 300 yard, rapid fire practice of the Service series, was won by Opaki 1 team. Cheltenham won the Islington Cup, awarded to the team returning the best score in the snapshooting practice at 300 yards.
