ATHLETICS.

RIVAL GIRL SPRINTERS. For the first time since her return from the 1932 Olympic Games, Miss Eileen Wearne turned the tables on her arch-rival, the 1928 Olympian, Miss Edie Robinson, and won over 100 yards in a championship event on January 4. Miss Wearne carried off the 100yds championship of New South Wales in 11 3-10, 3-10 s outside Miss Robinson’s State and Australian record, but strangely equalling the time in which Miss Robinson won the title last season. Miss Robinson did not appear to be up to her usual form. She had a close call in her heat, which she narrowly won in llis from the 15-year-old Sydney junior, Miss Valda Jones.
