(From Our Own Correspondents.) METHVEN. Present and past lady members of All Saints’ choir assembled at the residence of Mrs J. F. Stone, Alford Forest Road, for a social evening in honour of Miss Cathel Burrows, whose marriage takes place shortly. Games and, competitions were held. A small presentation of a frameless picture was presented to Miss Burrows on behalf of those present by the vicar (the Rev. H. S. Hamilton), who referred to the service their guest had given to the choir over a long period, and wished her every success in her married lile. SEA.FI ELD. There was a small attendance at the monthly irggting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, held in the rifle club rooms. Mrs R. J. Martin presided. An interesting talk was given by Mrs H. Driscoll on a North Island tour. Mrs Driscoll was elected representative for Seafield on the Crippled Children Society. The competitions, judged by Mesdames Baynes, Driscoll, Glassey, Grice and Johnson, resulted.: —Covered coathanger: Seniors, Mrs McDonald 2, Mrs Baynes 3; juniors, Miss J. Bruce and Miss M. Martin (equal) 1, Miss N. Dennison 3. Box of flowers ready to post: Mrs Baynes, Miss J. Driscoll, Miss J. Bruce. Three varieties of preserved fruit: Mrs Baynes, Mrs Martin, Mrs Johnson. The hostesses were Mrs Moorhead and Mrs Scott. WILLOWBY. Mr Ri. 11, Griffith presided at the monthly meeting of the Willowhy School Committee. The headmaster (Mr J. Hodges) reported that tre school had re-opened after the Christmas vacation, and that three new pupils had been enrolled. The relieving assistant mistress (Miss M. M. Howes) had begun her duties. MAYFIELD. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union hold its first monthly meeting for the year in the Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s looms yesterday afternoon. Mrs J. D. Murdoch presided over a good attendance. Tive secretary read a report of the last meeting of tlie executive. The Runpuna Division sent an invitation to its annual flower show and dance on March 4. The roll-call was “Favourite books and authors.” Mrs W. Robertson demonstrated the making of wool mats on canvas. She was accorded, a vote cf thanks. Afternoon ten- was partaken of, the hostesses being Mesdames G. Johnston and D. Howdcn. The competitions resulted: —Collection of vegetables: Mrs W. Robertson 1, Mrs J. Kingan 2. Bloom: Miss J. Robertson 1, Mrs J. D. Murdoch 2, Mrs G. Johnston 3. Vegetable: Miss Z. Robertson 1, Mrs W. Robertson 2.
