The Wheat Committee met yesterday to decide the prices to be paid for this season’s wheat to the farmer and by the miller, but no decision was come to, and the meeting was adjourned till to-day. The whole industry is anxiously waiting the announcement, about which there has been a good deal of speculation following the inquiry conducted into all sides of wheat growing, milling, and baking, by thq new Minister for Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan). It is possible that the final payout for last year’s crop will also be announce j. at the conclusion of the meeting. TIMARU WOOL SALES. GOOD QUALITY OF THE CLIPS. The catalogue of 26,000 bales to be offered at the second wool sale at Timaru, on Monday, is probably tho largest over offered in South Gantei - busy, and is 4000 bales in excess of the second sale last season. The sale will start at 7 a.m., to allow buyers to catch the express for Christchurch. The catalogue quota was .unlimited, hut since. January many clips requiring re-classing have been shut out. In some cases between 200 and 300 bales were rejected, because they could not be handled. It is the opinion of brokers that to cope with all the wool offering a. supplementary sale will be necessary. A quantity of wool normally sold at Dunedin and Christchurch has some forward, having been shut out of auctions in those centres. Farmers in South Canterbury have been able to carry more sheep, because of good turnip crops. A further reason for the heavy catalogue is that a. number of station clips usually scoured locally and shipped to the London market have been sent to this Timaru sale. Generally speaking, the clips have come forward in .good condition,

though a substantial proportion from the down country is on the heavy side and carries a fair amount of dust ft om turnip feeding, and from the dust storms in the spring. Back countiy clips, however, are in splendid conch tion.' The merino fleece entered looks well; so does the fine half bred. The catalogue composes a quantity of supei half bred from the plains and foothills, which is in excellent condition In some clips, however, the effect of late .hearing i. evident there tong a tendency to seed and dry yolk, but tlie catalogue will comprise a selection of good-conditioned wool with some choice back country lots. The approximate catalogue, witii order of sale, is at follows: Dalgety and Company ... 5,500 Loan"and Mercantile Co. ... 1,300 National Mortgage Pvne, Gould, Guinness ••• 1 , U4 . a Total 26,022 THE SHARE MARKET. The following sales were made on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday : LISTED STOCKS.

THE SYDNEY WOOL SALES. VALUES VER Y FIRM. SYDNEY, Feb. 6. At the wool sales 10,547. bales were offered, 9407 were sold at auction and 1736 privately.
