NORTH ISLAND SHEEP.

LITTLE MOVEMENT AT PRESENT. (Per Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, February 6. A large decrease is shown in tho number of sheep and cattle consigned from Waipukurau in. January this year compared with JknuSly last year. The totals for the four weeks ended February 1, 1936, were 29,318 sheep and 120 cattle, whereas in the same period in 1935, the figures were 90,553 and .589. A leading stock agent explains that because of the phenomenally rainy season, cattle are required to keep down excessive growth, and sheep are late in fattening. Not many breeding ewes are leaving central Hawke’s Bay. An expectation of better prices is another reason for tho small movement of stock.
