At a meeting of the Ashburton County Council this morning a motion of sympathy in the death of his mother was passed to Mr J. Bland. A motion of syjnpathy with the relatives of the late Mrs G. H. Carson was passed at the meeting of the St. Stephen’s Boy Scouts last evening. A motion of sympathy with Mrs E. J. Tucker on the death of her mother, Mrs J. Lewis, was passed at the meeting of the Ashburton branch of the Ashburton Women’s Missionary Union yesterday. Mr M. H. Bauru Jones, a son of Mr H. *M. Jones, of Ashburton, who has been senior estates clerk in the Public Trust Office at Auckland., has been appointed District Manager for the Public Trustee at Oamaru. The New Zealand Trades and Labour Council has decided to recommend industrial unions to support Mr J. Tucker as the workers’ delegate to' the International Labour Conference at Geneva (says a Press Association telegram from Wellington). A London cablegram states that the Bev. Canon Henry Aylmer Skelton, who was assistant priest at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Auckland, from 1921 to 1923, has been appointed Archdeacon cf St. Albans.
