GRASS FIRE AT NEWLANDS.
Sir, —May I correct your report of the fire on Mr Newton’s property last Monday? It was solely due to the prompt action of harvesters in. the vicinity and neighbouring farmers that the fire was prevented from becoming a. serious menace. . When the Coifnt.V Council plant arrived—“one hour and a-quarter after they were rung ror”— the fire was practically out. \ G. H. NICOLL.
