AMERICAN PRESIDENCY

SENATOR BORAH A CANDIDATE.

TYYO OTHER ASPIRANTS LIKELY

(United Press Association —Copyright.) WASHINGTON, February 4.

Senator W. E. Borah became today the first definite aspirant for the Presidency when he announced that he would actively seek nomination as the Republican candidate. He would seek convention delegates pledged to him in the Ohio primaries, as a first step toward nomination. So far, Senator Borah’s principal opposition appears to be from Mr, A. M. London (Governor of Kansas) and Colonel W. F. Knox, proprietor of the “Chicago Daily News.” Neither has definitely announced himself as a candidate, but both have indicated they would contest nomination. Fastern conservatives form strong support for Mr London, even though he is a Western man; and it appears Tlkely now, according to political observers that there will he a bitter in-ter-party fight between the Conservatives and progressives, with the former hacking Mr Landon and the latter Senator Borah.

Support for Colonel Knox lias not yet crystallised.
