CHINESE SITUATION.
BRITISH INTERESTS SAFE. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received, This Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, February 4. In reply to questions on the situation in North China, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr R. A. Eden) gave a brief account of recent events and added: “So far as I am aware, British interests in North China have not been materially affected by these developments. Meanwhile the Japanese Government is reported to have accepted an invitation from the Chinese Government to discuss questions outstanding between the two. countries, and them is reason to hope that an effort will be made to regularise the position through diplomatic channels.” ; —British Official Wireless.
