ASHBURTON CLUB’S CARNIVAL RACE FOR CONNOLLY CUP. A, swimming carnival held by the Ashburton Club in the Borough School Baths last evening was well attended. Entries in most events were good, and some keen contests resulted. Entries in the dive for school children were excellent and lour dived off for second place in the school girls’ event. Two of them tied. The 100 yards race for the Connolly Jubilee Cup was won easily by A. Mathieson off the limit. The cup avus presented to the winner by the president of the Ashburton Swimming Centre (Mr J. C. C. McLachlan). A Avater polo match played betAveen the Ashburton and East Ashburton clubs, resulted m a Avin for the East Ashburton Club by tAvo goals to nil.
